Data transfer charges

Whilst pretty clear to those in the know, costs associated with data transfer can be pretty confusing for customers.

Take the case of the chap who whilst on holiday in Portugal recently, decided to download a few music tracks and an episode of the TV series Prison Break. Blissfully ignorant of the implications, the unhappy traveller returned home to a bill from his mobile broadband provider for £31,500.

Fortunately for this particular customer, the provider saw fit to reduce his bill to £229. The cost of said data transfer had it occurred in the UK.

Still, it just goes to prove, pricing needs to be made crystal clear to consumers, and consumers need to stay switched on to the costs of ‘pay as you browse’.
